The 90s called, it wants its crop top back. It seems as though this trend is here to stay until further notice whether the idea of bearing your midriff fancies you or not. There’s no doubt the fashion industry is having a major moment with the 90s style. Almost everything we’ve been seeing on style bloggers, fashion editors, and celebrities looks like it came straight out of an episode of Saved by the Bell or Beverly Hills 90210. The key to keeping your look updated but still on trend is to mix 90s with modern pieces to avoid a Kelly Kapowski catastrophe. Unless you’re into that look, then just do you boo.
For the sake of time and because it is officially summer, let’s just focus our attention on the crop top. I’m definitely one who values comfort in an outfit above all and that goes for crop tops too. There’s plenty of ways to wear this trend even if you are a bit self conscious or want to ease into the idea of *gasp* showing your midriff. Layer a shirt under your crop top for a fashion forward look or simply throw on an oversized denim jacket if you don’t want to show too much skin. You can also look for longer tops that hit at your waist to cover up a bit more.
There’s really an endless amount of possibilities to style a crop top. Literally you can wear them with jeans, a denim skirt, any skirt really, shorts, pants, you get the idea. My favorite tops to look for lately have been straight neckline tops with spaghetti straps or halter tops. I love wearing them with either a pair of white wide leg pants or straight cut high waist jeans, a pair of satin slides or espadrilles, and a cute basket bag for that relaxed but still feminine French girl look. I’ve also been a sucker for any gingham or eyelet lace top. What’s your favorite crop top you plan on wearing all summer long?
